herbal medicine

Chinese herbal medicine has been used successfully for centuries. It has proven to be an effective treatment method when used alone or in combination with other modalities such as acupuncture, massage or qi gong.

Working with the same diagnostic approach as acupuncture, Chinese herbal therapy works to re-establish the natural balance and harmony within the body. Herbal medicine has the capability to prevent illness by nourishing and supporting the body's structure and function. Using a preventative approach helps to strengthen and maintain the immune, circulatory, digestive and other systems of the body.

A herbal prescription will include one single herb or several herbs working togeather in combination. The Chinese herbal tradition includes hundereds of organic ingredients, primarily of plant origin, which may be the root, bark, flower, seed or leaves. Each ingredient has unique effects on the body and can be used to respond to the root causes of illness.

Chinese herbs are used internally as a tablet, capsule or tea. External application of herbal medicine can be in the form of a linament, paste, spray or compress.
